Professional Teeth Whitening

Teeth that have been stained or darkened by food, tobacco use, age, medications or injury can be lightened and brightened by means of a non-invasive process known as teeth whitening.

Teeth whitening or bleaching simply refers to any process that will make the teeth appear whiter. While there are many over the counter options for teeth whitening, the most effective and safest teeth whitening systems are the professional strength ones available only at the dentist’s office. A dental professional whitening system offers a higher concentration of whitening components and delivers them to the teeth in the most efficient manner to achieve optimal results.

At our office we offer two exceptional options for tooth whitening. You can choose either an in-office tooth whitening procedure and/or a professional take home system.

Our take home kit may be prescribed alone, or after an in-office treatment to perfect or maintain the results achieved.

What is the process of a teeth whitening procedure?

There are two main categories of whitening products: those with peroxide-based bleaching agents and whitening toothpastes or dentifrices. Within the peroxide-based bleaching agent category, most whitening systems use either carbamide peroxide or hydrogen peroxide as the active ingredient.

The concentration of these ingredients determines the effectiveness, efficiency, and safety of the whitening system. The process of teeth whitening involves a chemical reaction between the bleaching agent and the molecules that cause discoloration. This reaction breaks down and removes stains and discoloration.

Factors to consider when providing care

At Lake Success Dental Group, we specialize in the art and science of dentistry to create beautiful and healthy smiles. We understand the importance of your investment and strive to provide treatments that support good oral health while meeting your smile goals. Our office offers a range of advanced cosmetic dental services, and our team will help you choose the best option for your unique smile.

It's important to note that not all types of stains or discoloration respond equally to teeth whitening procedures. Teeth whitening only targets natural teeth and does not change the color of dental fillings, crowns, or bridges. Individuals with yellow-toned teeth typically see more significant improvements, while those with brown or grayish teeth may need more intensive whitening or alternative treatments. Teeth whitening may not be recommended for individuals with sensitive teeth, worn enamel, or significant gum disease.

You can trust our team to thoroughly evaluate your smile and provide expert advice on whether teeth whitening is right for you. If not, we will recommend alternative cosmetic procedures that offer healthier and more effective results.
